2D Video Game Design 1 The 2D Video Design class uses a program called The Games Factory2. This class teaches the fundamentals of game design through a simple clickable interface. Students in this class will manufacture Arcade style video games that feature a pre-loaded library of 2D animated sprites. Game Design teaches children problem solving, logic, mechanical reasoning and critical thinking. Using the game's Event Editor, students will establish cause-effect (causal) relationships between objects. The Storyboard Editor is where students investigate spatial relationships, choose and manipulate game elements, design the look of their game and unleash their creativity. The result is a fully realized 2D video game that the student can take with them and play along with friends and family. All of our computer classes for children are focused on completing a culminating project such as the one you see in the sample pictures below. All classes are held at our New York State Licensed School in Great Neck, NY, which is located in Nassau County, Long Island. All courses can be taught at the home in the form of one on one tutoring programs.

3D Video Game Design   3D Video Game Design FPS 1   3D Video Game Design FPS 2   3D Video Game Design RPG 1   3D Video Game Design RPG 2   3D Animation 1 The 3D Animation class uses a program called iClone to create short animated 3D movie clips. Students can create a complete cast of talking animated custom characters, clothing, 3D scenes and special effects for animated movies. Using 3D real-time filmmaking tools students move and control characters through different environments to cast their movie, build custom sets, arrange props, control lighting and configure camera animation. Students will also learn how affix their own photographs to the characters and record their own voices to make the characters speak, making themselves the stars of the movies they create. 3D Animation 2   Graphic Design 1 The Graphic Design 1 course uses a program called Adobe Photoshop CS3. Students in this class begin with an introduction to the various tools available in Photoshop and start off the with creating pictures that consist purely of shapes. Students are then introduced to the concept of creating layers, placing shapes on different layers and manipulating shapes to create a completed image. Students learn to utilize the brush tool to create designs and add premade brush elements such as leaves, moons, stars, smoke and paint splatters to their pieces. We then incorporate the students own photographs into their work and use the Filter Gallery and Liquefy tool to add cool distortions and effects to their images. Students are taught how to add text elements and how text layers work. We also look at the effects of manipulating color, brightness and saturation. The final project culminates with artwork that incorporates all the tools and effects learned in class. Students leave with a CD Portfolio of their finished artwork. Graphic Design 2 Here is a sample work being done in our Graphic Design course. All courses can be taught at the home in the form of one on one tutoring programs. The students will learn programs such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Flash.

Flash Animation 1 The Flash Animation course uses a program called Adobe Flash CS3. Students in this class learn to make animated 2D cartoons and Flash movies that are also web ready. Dozens of popular television cartoon shows on the air today such as Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends and Pucca, as well as animated movies, commercials and music videos have been made utilizing the Adobe Flash program. Students learn to make cartoons with the same program used by professional artists. Starting with an overview of the work area and tools, students are taught the fundamentals of Flash. The timeline is explained along with the importance of using layers in your projects. Children learn different methods of animating objects, frame by frame animation, motion tweening, shape tweening, and motion guides. The student leaves the class with an understanding of how cartoon animation is made, the ability to make their own animated movie clips and a CD portfolio of all work completed in class. As the program tools and workspace are similar to Adobe Photoshop CS3, this is a great compliment to Graphic Design 1! Here is a sample work being done in our Flash Animation course.
